"True. I never understood what it was like to feel old until dealing with toddlers. And each year they age I become more decrepit."

"Ugh, tell me about it," Roy said, with a groan. "Trying to keep up with Lian, especially when she’s hyper, takes more out of me than patrolling Star every night. I haven’t even been in an arcade in forever… though, I see a lot of the games haven’t changed much since I was a kid."

"No this arcade has done a good job at preserving some of the classic arcade cabinets. There are even some games her that are from before both our times and are still kept in working order."

"I am aware." Kaldur said as he got out of his seat. "But I wanted to take care of it."

He took Amistad’s hand with one hand and Naiad’s claw in the other. “The arcade is just across the way.” he said as he led the way out of the restaurant.

They weren’t in the arcade for more than five seconds before Lian was already running to investigate all the different games that she wanted to play, forcing Roy to hurry after her. “Hold on, Lian, you need some tokens first.”

"Hurry, Daddy, I wanna play!"

"Just a minute," he said, bringing her over to the token machine. He put in five dollars and scooped out the tokens. "Alright, not don’t go blowing them all on one game."

Kaldur split the tokens he purchased between Amistad and Naiad. “That is very good advice,” he said to them. “We do not want to repeat what happened last time.”

Naiad ducked her head sheepishly. She was the one who was addicted to the skeet ball machine.

Amistad nodded. “Don’t worry I won’t. Can we go now?”

The kids left before Kaldur could say yes. Kaldur sighed as he watched them run off. “Shall we find a place to sit?” he asked Roy.

Lian herself loved the racing games, even though she could barely reach the pedals. Before Kaldur could even answer, she was pulling Amistad over to the nearest racing arcade. “Come on Amistad, you’ll love this one!”

Roy blinked; the next thing he knew, the kids were gone into the arcade, leaving him and Kaldur alone. “Well, they sure wasted no time, huh?”

"True. I never understood what it was like to feel old until dealing with toddlers. And each year they age I become more decrepit."

"When I was a kid, I believed you would become a mermaid when you went in the water to swim".

I really loved the little mermaid as a kid growing up so I had the warped perception you became a mermaid when you entered the water ahaha. This is me learning to swim with my cousin! This piece is for a gallery show at work.

Naiad pouted as much as a dragon could then put the advertizement down.

"We can pick up funnel cakes after the arcade okay?" Kaldur said.

Both Naiad and Amistad’s disposition brightened after the promise.  Kaldur called over the waitress and paid for their meal before Roy could chip in.

"Kal, you know we can split the bill, right?" Roy commented. He had already been reaching for his wallet, but before he even had a chance Kaldur had already given cash to the waitress for the bill. "I mean not that I’m complaining, but you really didn’t have to."

Of course, Lian wasn’t going to wait around for them to continue the conversation. She was already on her feet and tugging at her father’s pant leg. “Come on, Daddy! The arcaaaade!”

"They do taste good." Amistad mumbled before picking up the fry again.

Kaldur rubbed his head affectionately. He wondered if he should also explain how ketchup was made from tomato’s but decided against it.

Naiad had no issues finishing her food. She tugged Kaldur’s shirt and once she had his attention picked up the advertizement on the table for banana splits.

"Maybe later Naiad." Kaldur answered. "We do want to spend a lot of time at the arcade."

Lian grinned. “Yeah, the arcade is next!”

"And I’m sure there are plenty of other places to get ice cream on the pier," Roy assured. "Take the chance to digest a little before dessert." He wasn’t sure if a dragon needed to digest the same way a human did… but he figured it couldn’t hurt.

Naiad pouted as much as a dragon could then put the advertizement down.
